What is Isara Online?
Isara Online is a browser-based 3D isometric MMORPG: a persistent online world seen from above, with a camera you can rotate around your character and fast hack-and-slash combat. It is a homage to a classic isometric MMORPG from the early 2000s, rebuilt for today. The game is in early development (pre-alpha).
What is the story about?
You play a newly graduated Warden, one of the Crown's Blessed specialists. Your first posting is a forest village where something strange is going on, and what you find there is the first thread of something much bigger, running through the order that trained you and the Church that blessed you. What happens when I die?
Every Warden receives the Blessing of Aurel before graduating. When a Warden falls in the field, they wake again at the nearest chapel. The Church calls it Aurel's grace.
What platform does it run on?
Isara Online runs in the browser on PC. There is nothing to download or install.
How much does it cost?
Isara Online is free to play during testing. There is no shop and nothing to buy.
How do I join the playtest?
The Closed Playtest is not open yet. Sign up for the newsletter to be notified when it opens — subscribers hear first. Joining our Discord is the best way to follow along until then.
What does "switching disciplines" mean?
There are no classes to choose at character creation. Every character can fight as a Warrior (up close, heavy weapons and armour) and as a Mage (spells from range). You switch between the two with a single key, at any moment — even in the middle of a fight. Combining them is the heart of combat: open with a spell, close the gap, switch to steel. What is the Workbench?
The Workbench is our own tool for building the world of Isara. It has two parts: the Map Editor, where zones, terrain, dungeons and props are laid out in 3D, and the Sequence & Trigger Manager, where events, quest steps, cutscenes and scripted encounters are wired together. See the Workbench.
How does Isara relate to the classic that inspired it?
We played a classic isometric MMORPG from the early 2000s for years, and Isara is our homage to it. It is a new, independent game with its own world: we kept the feeling we loved — the isometric view, a shared world, clans and dungeons — and rebuilt the rest for today, with full 3D, a rotatable camera, direct action combat and switchable disciplines. Isara Online is not affiliated with that game or its makers.
